Immunohistochemistry Antibody

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) is a powerful laboratory technique that uses antibodies to detect specific antigens (proteins) in tissue sections.

By exploiting the principle of antibodies binding specifically to antigens in biological tissues, IHC allows scientists and pathologists to visualize the distribution and localization of specific cellular components under a microscope.

This is achieved by labeling the antibody with a marker, such as a fluorescent dye or an enzyme that produces a color change.

Vmat2 Inhibitors

Vesicular Monoamine Transporter 2 (VMAT2) inhibitors represent a significant breakthrough in the treatment of movement disorders, specifically tardive dyskinesia and chorea associated with Huntington’s disease. These conditions are characterized by involuntary, repetitive body movements that can be both physically exhausting and socially debilitating. The mechanism of a VMAT2 inhibitor involves blocking the protein that loads neurotransmitters like dopamine into synaptic vesicles. By reducing the amount of dopamine released into the synapse, these drugs help dampen the "noisy" signaling that causes the involuntary movements.

Metformin Hydrochloride

Metformin Hydrochloride is widely regarded as the first-line medication for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes. It belongs to the biguanide class of drugs and works primarily by reducing the amount of glucose produced by the liver.

In addition to suppressing hepatic glucose production, it increases the sensitivity of muscle cells to insulin, allowing the body to use its existing insulin more effectively. Clinical benefits include:

  • Weight Neutrality: Unlike many other diabetes medications, it does not typically cause weight gain.

  • Cardiovascular Protection: Studies suggest it may reduce the risk of heart-related complications in diabetic patients.

  • Low Hypoglycemia Risk: It rarely causes dangerously low blood sugar when used as a monotherapy.
